Training in safe patient handling Assisting people safely

About Us

Herts Handling Training

The principal, Pat Alexander, is an Advanced Member of National Back Exchange and is a Chartered Physiotherapist. She leads a  highly qualified team of  trainers, all of whom have a professional healthcare qualification, and have also taken post-qualification/graduation courses in manual handling and teaching. We provide a service of medico-legal reports in the field of manual handling injuries to both staff and clients, which ensures that our work is current and legally sound. We understand the importance to an organisation of protecting their staff and clients, as well as meeting their legal requirements.

Pat has spoken at the Safe Patient Handling Conference in Florida in 2007 and 2008, and at a similar conference in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane as well as New Zealand. She has also spoken at most of the major national conferences in the UK for many years.

Pat has also contributed to the 4th, 5th and 6th  edition of the gold standard in manual handling, the Guide to the Handling of Patients (RCN/BackCare),  ensuring that our standards are those of nationally recognised bodies, such as National Back Exchange and the Royal College of Nursing. She has also co-authored books on Paediatric handling and handling in the community and residential homes.  Pat was also an external reviewer of the 2010 publication Moving & Handling People - an illustrated guide. She has been involved in writing National Standards for manual handling training with the RCN and CSP. She also sat on the UK Steering Group for the Manual Handling Passport Scheme, convened by NHS Employers.

These achievements not only inform and emphasise our currency and wide-ranging experience in this filed, but also show that our company is well-regarded internationally as well as nationally.

We have since added Dementia, Falls and Safeguarding courses to our repertoire, and can also provide tailored courses for clients. Recent examples include Re-ablement, Single handed care and Level 3 award in Education and Training.
