Assessing Competency
(three day)
Target Audience
Supervisory staff responsible for ensuring that their colleagues are using correct strategies to assist mobility-impaired people to move, and that safe systems of work are used will benefit from this course.
Course Information
- The correct strategies for assessment of performance, and giving feedback will be discussed
- Delegates will be able to identify good practice in the field of manual handling techniques
- Workshops will allow discussion of the importance of correct strategies being used for the safety of client and staff
- They will be able to correct unsuitable methods of assisting transfers, by carrying out a risk assessment and devising an alternative care-plan
- Demonstrate safer strategies with manual/mechanical assistance
- Identify the need for update training in those who fail to meet standards of accepted good practice
- There will be an opportunity to complete local paperwork to document assessment and safe systems of work
