Falls Champions
(three day)
Target Audience
Staff with the ability to influence others, and who have gained their Level 3 Award in Education and Training, will find this course gives them the ability and resources to work with management and reduce falls among their elderly residents. Alternatively, they can combine this with the Level 3 award in Education and training, which lasts an extra four days.
Course Information
- Discussion will take place on clients with capacity being given choices about the risks they choose to take, and any legal issues arising
- Methods of identifying those at risk of falling will be taught, and preventive solutions suggested. However, no one prevention strategy is totally effective, and must be balanced with rights to dignity, privacy, independence and rehabilitation (which always involves risk)
- Both cause and prevention of falls are multi-factorial, so person-centred individualised care plans will be devised, as each person is affected differently by the interplay of different risk factors
- Methods of dealing with falling and retrieving uninjured clients will be taught and practised
- A Falls Reduction course will be provided for each delegate in their training pack
